This past weekend San Diego welcomed their 11th Ulta store in the county! The Otay Ranch Town Center location is the very first one in the city of Chula Vista, and as a beauty fanatic I had to go check it out. Ulta stores for the most part have a similar layout, but not all stores carry the same drugstore and prestige brands. Some stores also feature specialty beauty and skincare services such as the Benefit Brow Bar and the Dermalogica Skin Bar. Let's take a look at the newest Ulta location together to see what beauty things you can find here.
When you walk into this Ulta location you'll be immediately greeted by the perfume selection and it's a great one. They have everything from celebrity fragrances to designer perfumes, including the two newest scents by Marc Jacobs. As a longtime fan of Daisy, I couldn't resist smelling the new Daisy Dream Eau de Toilette which is a more version of the original fragrance. Daisy Dream contain notes of blackberry, blue wisteria, and white woods while the original features lighter floral notes.
Looking for a skincare consultation? Look no further, Ulta has the Dermalogica Skin Bar for you. At the Skin Bar, customers can learn more about their skin thanks to the Face Mapping skin analysis. You also get the opportunity to learn how to use the products and apply them on your skin, which is amazing if you're just getting into a skincare regime and don't know which products to use. The Face Mapping service is completely free of charge. There's also a list of treatments which you can get at the Skin Bar, such as a resurfacing peel and a clear skin treatment for teens. Just like at any other Ulta, you'll be able to find a wide array of hair care products and tools. There's everything from natural shampoo, to texturizing products for year-round beachy waves. The hair tools selection was beyond incredible! I never had seen such a big selection of blow dryers in my life. And if you're on a budget, don't worry because there's a great selection of budget-friendly hair products and tools.
The Ulta salon is located on the back of the store and it's equipped with everything to get you feeling your most beautiful. Most of the times they'll have special deals, such as their 25% off your first salon visit deal which is valid until October 3rd. At the salon you can get your hair cut, colored, styled, and even add extensions. There's a wide selection of services that they offer and for the most part they're very reasonably priced. If you have a weakness for nail polish or brushes, then I'd recommend you to avoid both of these sections. Not going to lie, I had a hard time resisting the temptation to purchase another brush from the It Brushes for Ulta range. Some of my favorite brushes from the range include the Velvet Luxe Soft Focus Sculpting Brush which is perfect for chiseling your face, and the appropriately named Airbrush OMG! Foundation Brush which is able to apply and buff in foundation like a dream.
And last but not least, the drugstore makeup! You'll be able to find all your favorite brands such as L'Oréal, Maybelline, Revlon, CoverGirl, NYX, and Physician Formula. The NYX selection is spectacular! They had everything from their colored mascara, to my favorite Soft Matte Lip Creams. Unfortunately you won't be able to find Ulta's brand new additions like the German brand Catrice or the UK beauty brand Makeup Revolution.

Here's my small Ulta haul! I picked up the Essence Longlasting Lipstick in I Am Yours! after hearing many of my favorite beauty bloggers rave about this $2.99 lipstick. I have to be completely honest, I'm certainly guilty of overlooking Ulta's Cosmetics Brand when they actually have some great products in their range. In this trip I discovered the Ulta Matte Lip Cream in Striking, which has some unique shades and a non-drying matte formula. Another product that caught my attention was the Demi-Matte Foundation which reminded me a lot of the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation in both texture and coverage, the main difference is that one is $12.50 while the other retails for $39. And finally to shape my nails I picked up the Flowery Ultra Violet Nail File, pretty boring purchase but I needed it.
